Letter from Colin:
This week was Fast and Testimony meeting and Elder Grow bore his departing testimony because he goes home in 11 days from now. In the same meeting a member said, "I don't dance to other people's whistle," although I believe she was going for "I dance to the beat of my own drum." Another sister was telling the story of how she was protected on the way to work and missed a potentially life-threatening accident by being slowed down by animals on the road. She said, ". . .But then if it weren't but a dag-gum squirrel wantin’ to play rick rack in front of my path!" I'm not exactly sure what "rick-rack" is, or what "dag-gum" is, for that matter, but it was pretty funny. Always remember that all my experiences happen in "Southern," not English.
This last week since the Church’s Christmas initiative has been out, we have more-or-less taught every lesson on Christmas while tying it into what people's personal needs may be. Look up mormon.org and watch the introductory video, then look at the calendar to see what you can do each day leading up to Christmas to be more Christlike, OR, if the missionaries in your area haven't shared it with you already, ask them to!
There is a famous video taken during the Vietnam War of the last helicopter evacuating Americans out of the city before the city was overtaken, and it just so happens that the pilot of that last helicopter was Brother Arthur, who is from Scott's Store area here in this ward. He came back for his grandson's baby blessing which we participated in. We are good friends with his son and had the chance to talk with him. His son, who we are friends with, is ready now for the second coming! He gave a way-over-the-top lesson at church on Emergency Preparedness yesterday. He asked us all if we thought it was plausible in the next 4 years for everything to fall apart in a major widespread catastrophe. We all said, “Yes,” that it “might could happen,” (that's proper North Carolina grammar by the way) and he says, "NO. It's not just a maybe! It's going to happen!! And y'all best be ready when it does, or you're done for!" I'm not saying he was wrong, but I guess we will just have to wait and see. All I know is that Albertson would be a safe place to be if it does happen.
A lot more happened this week, but I don't have time to write about it all. It's still smells like turkey poop and hog houses, and I still love the people and serving here in Albertson (make sure whenever you read my letters you read it with an accent like "All-Bur-Sun"). Have a Merry Christmas Season, and Blessed week y'all!

I am not sleeping well as of the last 4 days because I found a bed bug............... full..... of my blood! So I wake up like 8 times or more a night feeling super paranoid, but we have searched everywhere and can't find any more. I think the Mt. Olive elders brought it with them on exchange because they just found out their house is infested with them.
