well what to say what to say? that is the real question.
this has been a really tame week for us here in Fort
Bragg the weather has been amazing for a good chunk of the week, 65
and sunny with a bit of a breeze. it couldnt get any better than that.
if i could have a summer home i would put it here in Fort Bragg. on to
the workside of the area, we set 3 new baptismal dates with people,
which is awesome this area is full of people ready to get baptized, we
just have to find the rest of them. every time we find some one that
is willing to let us come back and talk with them i always think of
the path that they are on in life. everyone is being prepared to
recieve the gospel some are more prepared than others, you can tell by
the reaction they give you when you start to talk with them. some
times there is a lot of yelling and swearing.... but those people
arent not ready yet. then you have those that are calm and collected
people but dont want to change cause they are comfortable where they
are at, give it time and something will happen and they will start to
question things and will seach for answers. and the list goes on and
on of the reactions you can run into, those are the most frequent
reactions we get when we go tract or talking to some one on the street. i
have realized this week that it takes a lot of faith, believing in
yourself, and hard work to keep an area going when the whole town has
been picked through really well. but we keep marching forward and we
always keep our heads up. i think of the talk that was given in
General conference last october were someone quoted Pres Monson when
he said "it is better to look up." when we look down we run into
things bigger trials, that is why we look up and prepare ourselves now
for what will come in the future. keep our eyes up with a positive
attitude and push on. then God reveals to us the things needed for our
life.
i have noticed i dont really talk to much about the people
that i teach or the ward when i email home so i want to take some time
and talk about them. the crazy thing i forgot about last week was a
sister in my ward grew up in Bothell! The second time that has
happened! the even crazier thing is that from my house
back home i can see where she grew up! how nuts is that. she lived
right across the freeway in the neighbor hood you can see at the
bottom of the hill in our back yard. how crazy is that! this truly is
a small world. but the members here are awesome. they have such
different personalities, very small town minded. we had a new family
move in from Chico ( the Browns) they have a way different attitude
and personality than the rest of the ward, it is really funny to see.
everyone is so diverse, you have the vacationers, the back woods
people, the sheltered shy people, then the small town people who shell
up when the population gets above 10,000. it is really cool i love all
the ward members here.
our investigators, some of them have vanished, like this one
lady named Candy. she was doing awesome, had a baptismal date, wanted
to come to church, new everything was true, and then poof! She's gone.
we havent talked to her in about 2 weeks. no calls no nothing. but we
have had a lot of them tell us some tramatizing things that have
happened in their lives in the past two weeks, some really crazy
stuff! but they keep letting us come by because they know we are here
to help and comfort them. we did set a new date with this guy named
Joe, he has been through a lot in life and wants to change and make
things right. he told us " i dont want to go to hell" so we told him
about baptism, his get out of hell free card. he is awesome he does
have his struggles that he has to quit but they will happen.
that is the excitiment here in fort Bragg. Be Happy everyone
life is better when you are happy, trust me i know. i love you all
keep up the great things that you are doing.
