A letter from Andrew: (I could only get one picture to load.)
This week was really good. we had a baptism and it was
awesome everything went well. my companion baptized her, her name is
natya and we taught her on facebook and she would come to church in
Fort Bragg cause she has a friend in the ward, she lives in
Laytonville which is a long ways away from Fort Bragg and that is why
we taught her on facebook. we taught her on sundays when she would
come to church and we taught the other 85% of the lessons online. it
was a really cool experience to be a part of. the whole baptism went
really well there were a lot of nonmember people that came since she
has very little members friends other than the one she goes to church
with. so we watched part of the restoration while they were getting
changed after the actual ordinance was done and we watched the first
vision part and then i bore my testimony after we watched it and it
went really well the spirit was there really strong and i hope and
pray that it touched someones heart enough to allow missionaries to
talk with them one day. then i got to confirm her on sunday the next
day and i was so nervous for some reason, cause i dont get very
nervous any more unless i am doing something i have never done before.
but it went well i had to fight with my legs to quit shaking so much
but other than that it was really cool to do that cause it was my
first time actually confirming someone. i have been a part of a bunch
but never was able to actually say the words. then the rest of that
day after the baptism went even better we were able to teach 4 lessons
by the end of the day and it made the whole day better.
we had a half mission conference this week and we
had the opportunity to hear for Elder Gavarret from the Seventy. he is
from peru i think and it was kind of hard to uderstand him sometimes
cause of his accent but for the most part he spoke pretty good
english. he spoke first on the efforts we give as missionaries are
never wasted cause we are effecting generations in the future and in
the past. that i never really thought about that i was affecting
generations past, cause when converts get baptized they can go and do
the work for their ancestors and help them recieve the gospel. it was
really cool to hear that i am effecting more than just future
generations but also past. then he gave a really good analogy of the
fruits that come from our efforts, he said "you can cut an apple in
half and count how many seeds are in it but you cant cut a seed in
half and count how many apples will come from it." that hit me really
strong because we will never know how many seeds we have really
planted and we will never know how many of them will actually turn out
to be good seeds. we have to keep putting forth our effort to God and
the work and he will work out what seeds wil grow and what ones wont.
then our mission president spoke on finding the Amulek's of the ward
and help become powerful servents for the Lord. then Elder Gavarret
showed some really cool videos and one had a quote at the end that
said "if you never failed you never lived." i am so glad that we can
fail and get back up and move forward and become stronger from those
things that we have failed at and it is all because of the Atonement
that we can get back up brush oursleves off and move on with our life,
and become who we really want to be. that is one of the greatest
lessons i have learned on my mission is to accept failure and then
take that in stride and become better. progression is what life is
about and you have to fail to become better.
that is the exciting things of this week i hope life is good in
your parts of the world and i love and respect all of you.
Love from
Elder Pelton
