In honor of a good friend of ours who is suffering from brain cancer, Rob and I attended a "Pride & Prejudice" themed Holiday Ball last night, complete with costumes, as you can see. Rob wore the D.I. special, tan slacks that with my mom's help were shortened and tapered, over-sized white blousy button-up shirt with vest and an ascot fashioned from some material I bought at the fabric store, and his top hat borrowed from Rhonda's friend, who also supplied my gown. We had a really fun time... the ball was held at a lovely reception center complete with doormen announcing "His Lordship and Lady's" arrival to the party, delicious finger foods and desserts, Pride & Prejudice playing on silent on the flat screen TV's in the background, a pianist and violinist playing from the P&P soundtrack, and there were lessons on how to dance those old style English dances and waltzes. Out of about 50 people in attendance, only a few people arrived without a costume, and they were the ones who felt silly. Now, if you know Rob, you know he was less than thrilled with the idea of dressing like an English gentleman (like most of the men in attendance - the women were all giddy!), however he was a great sport and really wanted to show his support to our friend, this very well may be her last Christmas... overall we had a really great night. Thanks Mom & Rhonda for your help with our costumes!

That sounds great to me - but you are right about the men being less than thrilled.

Very cool. Would've been a little better if Rob had a fake mustache.
