Here are some of the 200 or so pictures we took on our UEA trip to Goblin Valley. Aubrey, as you can see was "climbing the walls!"
We visited the "Goblins" in the day, then we went back that night and had a "flashlight dinner" and then when the full moon came up, we wandered around among them for a while (with a bunch of scouts and other people playing capture the flag, etc.). Ask Erin about her encounter with "starburst boy". The next day Barry took us to Little Wild Horse Canyon for a trip through a slot canyon and it was cool! It was also cool that we made the entire loop through the red slot canyon, then around the back and through the yellow slot canyon called Bell Canyon. No big deal--just nine and a half miles!!!! The girls were game, tho and it was really incredible scenery! When we got back to our camp site, we were very content to just eat and sit around the fire toasting marshmellows and popping corn! We took some ATV trails and saw some of the old mining relics and some ancient native American pictoglyphs. Aubrey did the Jr. Ranger thing at Goblin Valley--just like when they were all little!
Now we are home and the metal plate and screws are out of my left ankle--I get to wear a plastic boot for 3 or 4 weeks. Barry had his right shoulder repaired the day after my ankle thing, so we are sitting around recovering together while the girls are at school. Erin is in the school musical, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. Jennae is skating and working on her program for the Utah Winter Games (and getting me to make her a fairy costume for Halloween!). Aubrey is on the 8th grade girls basketball team, so she has lots of practices to attend. Chip hated getting a bath when we got home from camping, but we all insisted, so life is back to as normal as it gets!

I love Goblin Valley! I've done Little Wild Horse Canyon three times. Two of the three times was the whole 9-mile loop. It is gorgeous, and the slots are fun. One of the times we went was in early spring, and there was several feet of run-off water in multiple places throughout the slots where we had to roll up our pants and wade through the icy water. There was one really "fun" part where the water was halfway up my thighs! Good times and good memories!

We love Goblin Valley too, but a storm was coming when we were going to hike Wild Horse Canyon. We really need to go back!
These canyons are just west of Green River, UT, on the way to Goblin Valley. They are very accessible on a road that is only about 5 miles without pavement-it is well maintained.
