News from CAM                                                                                                                     April 18, 2017
Dear Loved Ones All,
The week has been filled with much of the same interspersed with other fun stuff.  The part that is the same and not as much fun is especially the no place to park, the gated complexes, and the non- responses for texts or phone calls.  However, we were able to catch up to several members that we have been trying to visit for weeks/months.  We visited at the doorstep with a young mother around Christmas time and have since been trying to go back to meet her husband and determine why we couldn’t find her records.  She lives in a gated complex on a street that never has parking but shock of shocks we found an empty parking space within easy walking distance.  Yay, a sign.  Nope, the gate was locked tight.  We returned a few days later, and no parking but the gate was unlocked.  Not home.  We have tried multiple times to reach her on the phone number she gave us but there was no answer.  Finally this week we double parked in the street, the gate was open, and she had just returned home from work.  Her phone had been destroyed by a leaking baby bottle in the diaper bag so she just got a new one.  She was happy to see us and we showed her the Easter “Prince of Peace.”   And she set up an appointment to return when her husband and baby were there.  We also finally caught up to a working single sister who happened to be home because she was sick so we only chatted briefly with her on the doorstep, but she gave us her phone number, so now we can at least try to reach her by phone.
On P-Day we helped Elder Westergard pick up more of the new cars that had bike hitches attached.  That was at the start of rush hour which is always crazy.  This time they both got back before I did because I got stuck in the traffic.  Then we went with the rest of the Office Staff Missionaries to Souplantation in Tustin for dinner.  It was fun to get to know the new secretary and finance coordinator.  We also got to go to In & Out Burgers this week. Our ward mission leader, Brother Pruitt, takes all the new missionaries assigned to the 4th Ward there to get a burger and a T-shirt.  Since we got a new “greenie” from the MTC this week we got invited too.  It is amazing to me that there is always a long line of cars that snake around the building and parking lot waiting to make orders.  As a matter of fact they have someone with a headset and an electronic tablet of some sort that goes down the line taking the orders so that when the cars make it to the take-out window all they have to do is pick it up and pay.
We checked on the man in the wheel chair that Elder Macbeth gave a blessing to last week and he had been moved to UCI so hopefully he is getting the medical help that he needed.  Keith is still not well enough to get to go home.  We visited him several times and all he wanted to do was sleep so it was a welcome surprise that he called requesting sugar free candy and soup.  We were just sitting down to dinner when he called, so I diced up some veggies and added broth and noodles to cook while we ate and then we drove out to the Genesis Care Center.  It takes at least 20 minutes to get out there.  No Keith.  The nurses said he was moved to Anaheim Reginal 2 or 3 days earlier.  So we drove there, another 20 minutes.  Of course since it was after normal visiting hours we had to go in the Emergency Entrance.  No Keith.  We called Anaheim Global.  No Keith.  So we texted him that if he wanted a visit he would have to let us know where he was this time.  The next morning he called, but we couldn’t understand a word he was saying, so he gave the phone to the nurse, and since he had a very thick accent he was very hard to understand also.  I finally had to have him spell the name by “N” as in Nancy, “E” as in Edward, etc. Keith is now at the Foothills Regional Medical on Newport in Tustin.  So we went to visit him down there.  Poor guy, he seems to get moved around regularly.
On Saturday I took one of my cards to a very dear sister that we met when we first got here.  She has reached the milestone of 80.  Her daughters came to help her celebrate and they were not there so I just tucked it into the door jam. Sunday they brought her to church and she said they had gone to the beach.  Of course she liked the card and of course I just love her!
The Westergards invited us to come have an Easter dinner Saturday night with the Sister Missionaries that live in our complex.  I made a salad and heated up a very berry pie that was the result of “bread Sunday.”  (Our person that brings the bread has moved so I don’t know if we will get the treat of free bread anymore.)
Anyway we had a delicious ham dinner with them and the pie was actually very good. On Sunday,
Church was wonderful.  The sacrament talks about the Savior’s Atonement were wonderful.  The choir sang and Elder Macbeth sang in a quartet and both were actually quite good. In Relief Society our teacher handed out a piece of candy or a plastic egg.  Those of us with eggs had to wait until she said we could open them.  Inside she had some candy kisses and the questions she wanted to ask for her lesson that were color coded so that she knew which egg was to be opened as it pertained to the lesson.  It was such a fun way to get class participation and very effective.  Our Son-in-law had come down for the weekend from about 3 hours away where he is taking some class for his work.  He came to the sacrament meeting that starts at 11:00 am so it got out shortly after our block of meetings ended.  Then he came to our place for our Easter Feast.  Since our oven doesn’t have a delayed feature we had to cook everything when we got back.  He helped make the cheesy/funeral potatoes while Elder Macbeth put the ham in the oven while I did the rest of the preparations and issued “orders” as to what to do.  It was a delightful meal and we really enjoyed having him for a short visit.  After he left to go  back, we went to visit a young couple in our Ward and shared the leftover chocolate coated strawberries I had made for dessert.
That wraps up the main events for the week.  We love the Easter season as everyone is reminded of the great sacrifice Jesus Christ made for each of us, and how His atonement makes it possible for us all to live again. Hope it was a wonderful Easter for everybody, and that the coming week will be just as wonderful.
Love, Sister and Elder Macbeth             Go!      Fight!!        WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   J
