Subject: Week of Service!

Well let me tell you! It has been a SURPRISING week! Are you ready for this?!
Memorial day we went and dropped one of our investigators. Sad! We went over to Robert's house (he is the investigator's boyfriend) and talked to Haley about her baptism and all that, she basically told us that she wasnt really interested in being baptized. It was stressful because the missionaries have been teaching her for TWO YEARS! But Sister White drops people! The gospel is too precious! If they are not interested then we should go teach some one who is! But then we went and had memorial day barbecue with the Pervis family! I am going to be investing in a smoker after my mission YUMMY!! Then we went and taught Aubri about tithing!
The next morning I was in my bathroom and kept rolling my eyes at how noisy our neighbors were being! It sounded like some one was pounding on our door! Finally I walked out into the room and heard a voice! It was from outside my window saying "LET US IN!!" I went and poked my head out the door but no one was there! One second later the doorbell rang and GUESS WHO IT WAS!!! SISTER WALKER!! MY MOM! (sorry birth mom, I am referring to my mission mom) I JUST ABOUT DIED!! She was there with Sister Cooper! They have both been home since January! I had no idea she was coming! They came in and we took pictures and caught up for a second and then she had to run off and catch a flight and I had to go to district meeting! She came down to see a member from Vicksburg who got diagnosed with cancer at age 16, Afton Wallace. She passed away last Saturday. I am sure if you google her name you will be more updated than I am! It was wonderful to see Sister Walker though one last time before I go home! I was grinning all day!
I am going to tell an old story to explain what happened next...Okay? Every time we walk up to our apartment Sister McGregor and I wave at the old lady who sits in her chair by the sliding glass door. So on mothers day, the ward passed out roses to the current and future mothers. Sister M. and I went home to eat lunch after church, and Sister M. said "we don't need roses! Lets give them to somebody!" So I went and put a ribbon on a empty pasta sauce jar and we walked across our walkway to the apartment next to us and knocked on the door. "Hi we are missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we are sharing a message about Jesus Christ" I whispered to Sister M. she rolled her eyes and knocked again. A tall skinny old man answered the door and we said "We come bearing gifts!" Thankfully since we didn't know her name she was sitting right there! So we gave her the flowers and talked for a second and left! While we were there he told us that she has alzheimer's. So that morning as we were running out of our apartment, already a little bit late, he came out and told us that he needed help. We pulled the car back into the parking space and followed him inside. He told us that he needed to help his wife get dressed. We went in the bedroom and this woman in her 80's was sitting in her robe sniffling and crying on the bed. I came in and sat next to her, I put my arm around her "Hi, we are here to help you get dressed!" "Oh I am so ashamed! I shouldn't need help! I cant believe I have forgotten how to do it!". I patted her back and told her she was silly that we were so lucky to be able to spend some time with her. We couldnt figure out which direction her diaper was supposed to go on which got her laughing THANKFULLY! It was breaking my heart! We told her she should fire us! After she was all dressed we said a prayer with her and took her into the living room. Her husband told us that he would have had to call 911 she was so frantic. I would say his timing was perfect, but I know it is the lord's timing.
Then on wednesday our car got put in the shop...AND THEY LOST THE CHECK FROM SALT LAKE! So we have been trying to do full time missionary work in Laurel without a car for almost a week! (For those missionaries who didn't have cars, I am not complaining about the walking, but most of our investigators are a 15 minute drive from our house!) So we have been walking and walking and walking!
On thursday we passed by this little stream with a bunch of tadpoles in it, and Sister McGregor said a prayer that it would rain on them. Yeah. We were soaked. Needless to say we laughed the whole 45 minute walk back to our apartment!
But it is good! I think next week will just be a bunch of pictures since we have been taking lots of pictures!
Alright since we gotta walk home we gotta get going!
I love y'all!
Have an awesome week!
Love Sister White
