Sarah Missionary Letter from Vicksburg #6: 7/15/14

So I made it a whole transfer! I am at transfer point right now. We had to bring the Elders even though neither Sister Walker, nor I, is getting transferred.

Right now I am going to tell you about the miracle of “Empty Water Bottle Day! “
So I got pretty dehydrated this week, but it turned out to be a blessing!
It was “Thirsty Thursday,” so we had been riding bikes all day. The first "miracle" happened when we went to visit a potential investigator. Her husband answered the door and when we asked about his wife he said, “Oh, are y'all practicing the Mormon faith?" We explained who we are and that we are missionaries. He asked us not to come back! It was so weird because, his wife was really interested, so in that moment of panic I felt prompted to ask him if he would fill my water bottle! He came back with a glass of water for Sister Walker too, though! And while she drank, we taught him about what we believe! AND--ARE YOU READY?! We have a standing appointment forevery Monday! We went to another investigators house, she also wasn't home ---but he took so long filling up my water bottle that she came home before we left! And we taught her! We went tracting and people would invite us in while they filled up my water bottle and then we would teach them! It was so amazing!

She wrote more about a package we sent and a plea for letters since she’s doing “GREAT,” so she’s not desperate, BUT it is discouraging to check the mailbox every day and have it empty. “When I get letters they make your day better—rather than “fix” them.” Sounds like music to this mother’s ears! She also would love photos of family and friends because having them up on her wall, “. . .feels like I am being ‘rooted on’ by my family. . . .”
