Sarah  Missionary  Letter #3 6/3/14, Jackson, Missisippi:

I AM IN MISSISSIPPI!! It is like you are sitting in a bathtub where the water is the same temperature as the air! Sister Hill figured it out as we walked out of the baggage claim: "It is like the reptile section at the zoo!" Which is spot on! It is a jungle! OH, but my hair is so curly and I love it!
On the flight Sister Hill and I did the silent scream (we make a screaming face and as quietly as possible make screaming noises, it is stress management) when we saw what we thought was the airport (it was an airport hanger) Everyone I sat next to on the plane WAS MORMON! Disappointed! I brought a book of Mormon and three Pass-Along cards with a strong goal to give them away! The stewardess on the flight to Georgia was REALLY rude to me! It may have nothing to do with my mission tag, but I realized when I am the nice girl my mom taught me to be, people will assume that it is because I want to convert them! I MEAN, I DO-- BUT STILL!!
THE ROADS ARE TAN! In the airplane I thought the highways were DIRT!
The water tastes kind of like Utah water...But like a thicker somehow...
My first area is Vicksburg, we will be tracting, but a lot of it is going to be working AT THE HISTORICAL SIGHTS! DID YOU HEAR THAT DAD! BE SO JEALOUS! I am going to send you LOTS of pictures so do not worry!
My mission president and his wife are so kind! That is all I have to say about that and I kind of feel bad. That past forty-eight hours have been a huge blur!
The Sister Training Leaders are so sweet. I just met my new trainer AND I ALREADY LOVE HER! She saw me and loudly said COME TO YOUR NEW MAMMA! She seems really funny and upbeat. In the car ride to the mission home an investigator called the Sister training leaders (some day I will tell you what their responsibilities are), and the phonecall went through the car speakers so we were listening. They called her “Miss Marilyn” and I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE WAS SAYING! The Sisters could because they made an appointment for next week!
Sister Hill and I cried so hard during companionship prayer this morning, we just kneeled on the floor thanking God for each other for like five minutes. I am glad that my new companion is so awesome because it is going to be SO HARD to say goodbye to Sister Hill!
We had Asian food for lunch with I think is hilarious. Southern Chicken Hibachi! It tastes the same everywhere! Missionaries have all these terms for things her, like my trainer Sister walker is my "mom" and your last transfer is where you "die" like an elder was telling us his "death wish"is to "die" by the coast. So my "birthplace" is Vicksburg. Apparently Mississippi is very ghetto...Vicksburg is all tourists and ghetto they said! SO THAT IS EXCITING!
I cried when Sister Hill left...Transfers are not spiritual at all! We stood in a circle and they called names everyone whooped for the people who were called and they left in a van! She didn’t cry as much as me but her eyes were red. That girl really does love me. WHICH IS CRAZY BECAUSE WE HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR TWO WEEKS!!
Sister Walker is apparently athletic so I might have to go running for the next 6 months! Everyone says unless your trainer is going home at the end of the transfer then you will probably be together for two transfers. I am the first person Sister Walker has trained, I am not totally sure how I feel about that.
I feel a little panicky off and on because of the gigantic, humongous, very large, monolithic, (can’t think of other words that mean big and enormity) of this call! When we meet people we have ONE chance to give them the biggest gift that God has given us: Jesus Christ....OUR SAVIOR! I have ONE moment to help someone know that the very Church that OUR SAVIOR CAME TO THE EARTH TO GIVE US is on the earth AGAIN!! THAT IS A BIG DEAL! Sometimes I am overwhelmed at how happy and how miserable I can be all within a two second period! It is just like being in love!

LOVE YOU LOVE YOU LOVE YOU!!
                                                                        Sister White
