Dear Loved Ones All,
Sorry this is so late in the week arriving, but our P-day was changed to Wednesday because our zone got to go to the Temple this morning. But that is a story for next (this week).
Church was great, but the most pleasant thing about Sunday was that we were invited to the Bodily’s for dinner. He was just released as first Counselor in the Bishopric and put on the stake High Council. It was a relaxed, peaceful informal meal. She served a crockpot meal that came in a kit that all you had to do was dump it in the crockpot and turn it on. It was especially good since I didn’t have to cook it. Sister Bodily also gave me a hot pad which she had crocheted as well as a crocheted scrubber made out of tulle.
Monday found me fixing more pants and doing some alterations. The hard part was trying to make a size 32 into a size 28. Didn’t happen...I was only able to shave off a little more than 2 inches without taking the whole thing completely apart. They haven’t figured out that although I can do most repairs, and re-hem, etc., I am not exactly a miracle worker. I also sent a few thankyou cards for our great hostesses for our fun meals. And Wonder of wonder, we got invited over to the Westergards’ for dinner and FHE. I remade the peach cobbler and Elder Westergard was thrilled. I guess it is one of his favorite desserts.
So, to continue the saga of the wheel chair, sat at the church over the weekend through Monday until Tuesday evening. We went to the church so Elder Macbeth could be around for the bishop’s interviews, but he ended up going with the young men. I didn’t take my genealogy since I had two pair of pants that still needed to be hemmed. A brother in the ward who works on air conditioners, etc. came over to the church and they worked on Sister Pulliam’s chair. It seems that a couple of the wires got plugged into the wrong sockets. All that trouble for a few crossed wires. Now let that be a lesson to you….! She decided she didn’t need it until Thursday night after Book of Mormon class.
We made the usual unanswered texts and phone calls, and stopped a multiple number of places, and yay hooray, we even were able to make some visits. We made several trips to visit Keith, no news about why he has such a high white blood cell count, or if he might be losing his apartment because he has been absent from there for more than 30 days.
On Thursday we picked up Sister Pullium so she could ride her wheel chair to the bus stop after class as well as getting Sylvia. It was so nice to turn the chair back over to its owner.
On Friday we took a little extra time to catch up our journals before we ran some errands and washed the car while waiting for Sister Kenyon to return home. She asked us if we could pick up some fresh fruit for her. She is one of our ward members who is teetering on death’s door because her health is so bad.
The ward council were asked to verify all the members on the ward current ward list and have it turned in by Wednesday evening. I guess the nine stakes in the area were all sent directives to have their wards do the same. We have been working on our member list since we got here. With the help of the young missionaries and some of the ward members we only had 20 names that were left for us to search out We took about 60 names off our member list. The one that was the strangest was a person who moved 9 years ago.
Friday all the missionaries in our ward met at the Bishop’s for enchilada dinner. I made a chocolate torte, for dessert. Brother Pruitt (the ward mission leader) cme in time for dessert. Bishop is a pretty good cook and it was al delicious. Afterwards we had a ward missionary coordinating meeting.
General Conference was awesome as most of you can attest. Saturday we watched it on our computer. Sunday we went down to Laguna Niguel to watch with Brad, Becky and grandkids. Eli is such a cuddly baby and so laid back. The other three were as fun as a barrel of monkeys, literally. We so enjoyed ourselves, but I think we might have to revisit some of the conference talks because I have to admit my attention was divided. During “conference half time” (Libby’s term) Brad cut his 2 year old son’s hair. He screamed bloody murder the whole time except for when he was collecting hair clippings in a pile for a birdie nest. He was so adorable. Anyway we loved the visit.
That’s enough of our missionary life so I will wish you all an epic week.
Love, Sister and Elder Macbeth
