CWhite Week 14: 2/1/2016
Some Memorable quotes from this week:
"We Were just Grillin’ and Chillin’, but now we are going to turn up... so now's not a good time"
-One of our new investigators this week
"Pray for me so I don't catch that Ebola virus they got inside! This house has got to be quarantined."
-Our investigator whose family has the flu right now (they don't actually have Ebola. Don't worry)
   "Sleep doesn't equal rest."
-A Sister talking on keeping the Sabbath day Holy

This Week was wonderful as always, and when I say “wonderful,” I actually mean that it was really hard and very tiring, but just because it was hard does not mean it was a bad week. This week the weather has gone from 29 degrees and snow-- to 70 degrees and blue skies. The weather here is rather confusing--there's no telling what it will be like tomorrow.
As I was writing in my spiritual thoughts/topics journal this week, and I was thinking of the gospel as a ship: “When life gets dark and stormy, we can't just jump off the boat.  If we jump overboard we are left to our own strength to keep us afloat, and when left to our own devices in the frigid, treacherous, waters of this sin-swept world, we will surely drown. Only by the life-ring, which is the Atonement of Christ, can we be brought back to the Ship whose steady course leads to Eternal Life. We are living in a world of polluted waters, and only through Christ can we safely navigate through this life.”
This week was the last week in the month and each month we only have a certain amount of miles we can drive. By Saturday night we only had .7 miles left, so on Sunday we walked to church and then I got to ride my sweet new bike for the first time. I think people are always somewhat confused when they see guys in white shirts and ties riding around town on bikes.
Missionaries on bikes is actually the reason one of our investigators, Jeff, talked to missionaries in the first place 30 years ago in Birmingham, Alabama. He was confused because in 1982, when he was living in Alabama, he saw these two white guys who  were always riding around on their bikes together in the ghetto areas of the city--so one day he stopped them and asked, "Aren't you scared to be around here?" The missionaries responded, "No, not at all." Then Jeff says to them, "What do you mean you're not scared!! I live here, and I'm scared to be walking around here!"
He said, "I know you're telling the truth and that this is from God, because missionaries go around everywhere, no matter the neighborhood, and talk to people about Christ--and no one ever steals their bikes, or mugs them, or anything! You can just see and feel the light of Christ you bring wherever you go."
There is always so much to write and never enough time, but either way, I hope to hear from you all soon. Thank you so much for all the letters I've already received!
See y'all next week.  Have a blessed day!
